Youngcraft - Morph

The Morph model is my favourite “everyday” (2-6ft) wave ripper.  The board is designed to feel skatey and loose, easily manoeuvrable and able to be pushed through a tight arc into any part of the wave but still have a tonne of hold and drive on rail.  The low to neutral rocker profile combined with the fuller outline provide quick planing speeds, whilst the double bump flyers narrow the tail and create curve around the back foot for easy turning.  Most of the elements of the board are geared towards effortless speed and looseness, and then the edge brings bite, hold and drive to the board.  The edge is subtle but sharp. The sharpness brings a precise, responsive and quick projection to the board , whilst the subtlety (low depth) of the edge combined with round and soft outer rails, brings a forgiveness to the board allowing you to stay in control.  I find with this harmony I can push into the edge and reap its benefits. feeling extra acceleration and projection, but maintain control through all manoeuvres.  Its always a matter of speed vs control.  The Morph to me maximises both in small to medium surf.  Heaps of hold and drive on rail whilst still being loose and skatey with quick manoeuvrability. You can throw the fins out or drive through a carve. My ultimate fun board.

Fin setup is a twin + trailer, I’ve found this feels close to a thruster for responsiveness but just allows a little more freedom and a playful element in everyday waves. 

Note the Morph has a flat deck and mid- fuller rail, so is ridden overall thinner than a domed deck surfboard of a similar volume.  The flat deck feels more responsive and connected to my feet, makes me feel lower, more locked into the board and close to the water, something I really like a lot.
